Jamie Umber, DVM, MPH

Dr. Jamie Umber is the senior veterinary epidemiologist for the BioWatch program at CIDRAP and is an adjunct professor in the Veterinary Population Medicine Department at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota. Prior to joining CIDRAP, Dr. Umber was a post doctoral associate with the University of Minnesota's Center for Animal Health and Food Safety (CAHFS), where she completed a veterinary public health residency program. Dr. Umber has also been appointed as an associate fellow with the University of Minnesota's Institute on the Environment.

Dr. Umber has experience in a variety of settings with applied epidemiologic studies, public health surveillance and data analysis, policy collaborations, veterinary and public health response teams, and educational and outreach activities. She has also served on active duty with the US Army Veterinary Corps and worked in private veterinary practice.

Board certified with the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, Dr. Umber received her BS in biological sciences from the University of California at Davis and her DVM and MPH degrees from the University of Minnesota.
